Rye was well lit up last month for our special Christmas celebrations with lights in the streets, along the quayside, and in the windows of shops and homes.
And the winners for the Christmas lights competition , commercial and residential, as judged by Mayor Bernadine Fiddimore, were – in the commercial category, in third place Concepts on the corner of Market and Lion Streets, in second place Olde World Wines in Cinque Ports Street for their originality, and in first place Adams in the High Street.
The winner in the residential category was 56 Pottingfield Road and homes varied between the discreet and understated in the historic conservation area of Rye to the bright and beautiful elsewhere.
And all are a good reminder of what our town was like, lit up for Christmas 2015, and should bring us all a bit of cheer in this post Christmas cold snap. Roll on Christmas 2016 and well done to all the shop and homes that were lit up and a special thanks to the organising team of the celebrations.
