There are still a few days left to buy the last available tickets for the Ferry Road Nursery fundraising black-tie dinner at the Mermaid on Saturday April 21.
The event, hosted by the Mayor of Rye, Cllr Jonathan Breeds, marks the acquisition by the Town Council of the Nursery freehold and is to start the fundraising process for the extension to the building, so successful has it been in recent years.
The evening will start with a champagne reception with music by international, Rye-based, classical pianist Anne Marshall, followed by a three-course dinner in the two-rosette restaurant of the Mermaid. This will be followed by a short auction, led by the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, Deputy Town Cryer Paul Goring – there are eight fantastic prizes including products and treatments worth more than £500 from Rye Retreat, a day at Lords with MCC members, a trip around Rye Bay with the Harbour Master in his official launch boat, lunch at the House of Lords and many more. The evening will close with some light music from Anne and guest singers, including the beautiful voice of the Mayor himself.
Organiser Cllr Rebekah Gilbert said: “This is a great opportunity for the community to show their support for the nursery, which is open 50 weeks a year from 8am to 6pm for young babies to toddlers, and allows mums and dads to return to work in the knowledge that their little ones are in a safe and nurturing environment, and thus supports our local economy. I am sure it will be a fun evening for all and we are most grateful to our many sponsors, auction donors and the wonderful Mermaid for hosting this event.”
Tickets, at £50 each, (including a glass of champagne, three-course meal with half a bottle of wine, and all entertainment) can be purchased via Rebekah at info@vivawellbeing.com
