On Sunday at the special opening of Rye Spice Company in the Harbour Road I took my Rye News colleague’s advice and went to look at all the wonderful spices and Christmas items offered.
Walking through the door one inhales the aroma of the many delightful spices and with a glass of wine I wandered through the aisles where shelves displayed gluten free treats, herb mixes, products from the delicious Cottage Delight range, nicely packed jam , marmalade, pate and much more. Of course I could not resist and left with a bag of goodies for presents.
Robbie Hollands, brother Glenn and Robbie’s wife Anita have worked hard over the years expanding the business and now stock, they say, the largest selection of herbs and spices in the south and supply all over the UK.
Robbie was very excited to show me space behind the spice warehouse and shop which they are now planning to develop into a compact kitchen and an area to sit where we will be able to have lunch accompanied with a reasonably priced glass of wine (once the licence comes through) and in the summer there will be an opportunity to sit outside and chill.
And this is not the end. Robbie said, “Watch this space “. There are more exciting developments to come. His enthusiasm and the energy of all three is boundless, and I hope Rye and its surroundings will support this vibrant and growing business.
