Cycle parking has been approved by Rye council in the Cattle Market, due in part to £500 from Rother Environmental Group (writes Kenneth Bird). The money is from the Monuments Men fund, donated to the town of Rye by Rose Line Productions of Sony Pictures, to be used to improve the environment. The parking area, it is hoped, will encourage cycling in and through the town. Nick Hanna, cycle co-ordinator for the environmental group, says that there will be a consultation this summer on whether work should be undertaken to complete the Rye Harbour cycle route. If approved the work should be completed by early 2015.
