Once again Rye Bay Marketing (RBM) has released its annual guide to the Rye Bay Area. As ever it was published on time, on budget and packed with high-class editorial. 168 advertisers took part with 187 advertisements between them to complete the comprehensiveness of the publication. Comprising 64 pages with a print run of 130,000 copies, it will be circulated roughly within a four-hour drive radius of the area.
Since the band of volunteers that make up RBM took over publication of the guide it has gone from strength to strength. John Smith heads the sale of the publication and, with local design wizard Kirsty Dougherty, they patiently piece together the themes and flavour of each issue, to ensure its attraction to advertisers and public alike.
Now in its fourth year under the management of RBM, the guide justly claims to be the premier tourist print publication for the district, as its would-be competitors have fallen away, one by one. A new feature of the current edition is the inclusion of a reprint from the Radio Times covering the filming of the Mapp and Lucia series in Rye during 2014. The Rye Bay website attracts hundreds of hits per day, augmenting the guide’s coverage and enabling rapid information updates. All this has been achieved by a small band of volunteers who care for and love the area passionately.
If you are able to spend a few hours per month helping your fellow citizens and have a yen to put your talents to work, contact RBM on 0845 226 6946. Your input would be most welcome. The Rye Bay guide is available at various locations in Rye: Past & Present in the High Street, Concepts in Market Street and The Rye Heritage Centre at Strand Quay.
