Rye Scouts are looking forward to moving into their new building at the end of this month, when the old dilapidated premises at The Grove, Rye, will be surrendered to East Sussex County Council (Kenneth Bird writes). They are planning a Celebration Day on October 4, when everyone will be invited to see the new home and a display of scouting activities. I caught up with Scout leader William Perfitt at the Tilling Green summer fete.  He and his wife Debbie were manning a fundraising stall. William is enthusiastic about the move to the new building, to be known as The Rye Scout Centre, which will be available for hire by other local groups. The official opening is scheduled for May next year.
