An exciting quiz all about Christmas, and in aid of Rye Bonfire Society, will be held this Sunday December 6 from 7pm at the Kings Head Inn, about halfway up the hill out of Rye towards Peasmarsh, costing £3 per person with nibbles.
Please check availability as there are lots of bookings already in, by calling Lisa at the pub on 01797 225962. Any donations for the Raffle (Secret Santa presents welcome and encouraged) to Ruth at the Mariners before the end of the week please.
Do come along and support the Bonfire and have a good festive time!
[Editor’s note: A question that might crop up is where the apostrophe goes in the pub’s name as none can be seen on the pub’s website. Is it the King’s Head (singular) as in Charles the First, who lost his?.
Or is it the head of a number of kings (as in Kings’ Head) such as Henry the Second who led the Plantagenet line of monarchs in the Middle Ages. We should be told.
But “not many people know that”, as Maurice Micklewhite is alleged to have said (frequently). “Who he?” you may ask but, if you need to ask, perhaps you had better avoid pub quizzes.
The answer can be found on Google, but lots of pubs employ “Google-watchers” to ensure quiz teams play fair. If you get caught cheating, it may not be only your boats that get burnt . . . ]
