Sing-along meeting for all

Liz Gange and Kate Head are holding a meeting in the community centre to discuss having a sing-along every three months. The pair hope that the idea of an afternoon singing along to favourite tunes, with tea and cakes thrown in, will appeal to a cross-section of the community. In particular they feel that those people with dementia or Alzheimer’s and their carers, as well as the elderly or those who might be feeling a bit lonely, will benefit from regular get-togethers. The sing-songs will be led by members of the Sunset Singers.

Although there are choral singsong groups for those with dementia or Alzheimer’s and their carers in Bexhill, St Leonards and Hastings, there is no such group in Rye. While the sing-alongs will not be restricted to those suffering from or dealing with those diseases, they will nevertheless provide an opportunity for people who are to meet and interact.

Anyone who would be interested in the sing-along, but who is not able to attend the meeting, and would like further information can contact Liz on 01797 230993 or Kate on 01797 270459. The meeting will start at 2pm on Monday March 30 at the Community Centre in Conduit Hill.
