It’s a work of art, a thing of beauty. It’s a dress, too, that no woman is ever likely to wear, except perhaps in a fashion studio. Its creators are students at Rye Studio School and you can admire it in the window of The Shop Next Door, High Street, Rye.

Karen Davenport, personal coach at the school, said: “The Shop Next Door was very keen to take part in the Farrow and Ball window competition for the launch of their new wallpapers. Our A Level and BTec fashion and textile students were thrilled to be asked to design the dress for the window.” The students involved in the project were: Bella Woodcock, Jade Tate, Lian Wood, Erin Steer, Jessica Lench, Lizzie Howard Hill, Harry Spearing, Amie Moran, Kathryn Milne, Rosie Mills and Sophie Cuthbert. To vote for the dress in the Farrow & Ball competition visit the pinterest website. Voting ends on March 31 and the winner in a competition that is worldwide will be announced on April 7. Take a look at the other entries. You will find another dress design. This time in a store in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris. You’ll agree, without doubt, that French fashion loses this one – to the students of Rye Studio School.
