Visitors to the East Street Museum in Rye will get a brighter welcome following redecoration of the entrance archway.

Peter Smith and his son Michael, of Tudor Builders and Decorators, were busy painting the ceiling and main wall white this week in strong contrast with the black wooden gates which this same locally-based firm painted last year.

The East Street Museum re-opens at Easter on Saturday, Sunday and Easter Monday March 26-28 from 10:30am to 4pm and is open weekends during the summer.

The Ypres Tower will also be switching to its summer opening hours. Volunteers interested in helping at either building should attend a party for volunteers at East Street on March 18 from 6pm.
