With so many activities and events taking place tomorrow (Saturday) in the “Tales of Old” celebration of Christmas, details are scattered through this edition of Rye News – but they can also be found on the website and printed programmes are available in many parts of the town centre.
Tales of Old also feature in the Tale Trail around town of 15 posters featuring tales like the Little Match Girl and the Snow Queen – and there is a prize to be won. More details in the programme.
Some of the extra special characters may also be found wandering around town – including The Ice Queen, The Tin Soldier and The Witch from Hansel and Gretel.
Also around town will be a number of carol singers and charities collecting for various good causes – so keep your eyes open for them too.
Be also aware of road closures – at the Landgate, Market Road and Mermaid Street – and of the procession around town between 4:30 and 5:30pm – but not affecting the South Undercliff.
Expect refreshments to be available at the Christmas market on the Strand – but also around town. The Old Borough Arms in the Strand is hosting a prosecco bar again from noon and Concepts opposite the Town Hall and the Butter Market will have mulled wine and mince pies from 2pm to 6 pm.
The Kino cinema is showing Christmassy films (Arthur Christmas at 2pm, White Christmas at 4pm and The Red Shoes at 6:30pm) and Claire Fletcher who designed much of the festival artwork is signing copies of her book “Painting Pepette ” in the Rye Art Gallery from 2pm to pm.
And in the evening, life goes on after the 6pm carol concert in St Mary’s with a Smugglers’ Tales Supper in The Mermaid from 7pm, The Carry On Boys at the Ypres Castle Inn from 7pm, Sam Calver in The Crown in Ferry Road from 8pm and a Christmas Party in The Oak at Rye Foreign – with the Wall of Sound and all things Christmassy.
Enjoy.
