This year Rye Arts Festival has teamed up with City Music Foundation (CMF) charity to offer a varied programme of some of the finest young classical musicians at the start of their professional careers. And the stars of the future coming to Rye in September aren’t just from the UK but also Europe.

Classical music is, of course, without boundaries, but some countries are centres of excellence. London is one of the of major places in the world for musicians to come and study and then perform.

Soprano Sian Dicker

And four of the best young artists currently residing in the UK will perform an evening of opera arias, entitled “Seasons of Love” on Saturday, September 24 in St Mary’s Church in Rye, which offers glorious acoustics for the performers and audience to enjoy – both will bounce off each other and create a memorable night.

From Wales, soprano Siân Dicker won the International Voice of the Future competition at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July 2017. Siân is now a City Music Foundation artist and was also selected to join the Britten Pears Young Artist programme for 2021/22.

Laura Lolita Perešivana, is a Latvian who has been gathering plaudits for her performances – “her star quality combined with a sumptuous, penetrating soprano suggest she is ready for any role a big house might throw at her,” wrote Opera Magazine.

Mezzo singer Rozanna Madylus

Rozanna Madylus completes the trio of divas, and is a British mezzo-soprano of Ukrainian descent.  “An engaging stage presence,” according to the The Daily Telegraph, she is an award-winning graduate of the Royal Academy Opera School.

And they are joined on stage by the Lithuanian pianist Rokas Valuntonis, who has performed all over Europe including Denmark, France, Finland, Portugal, and his native Lithuania, and is a laureate of around 20 international piano competitions.

Dr Clare Taylor, managing director of City Music Foundation, says: “CMF’s talent development programme provides selected exceptional performers with the skills, networks and experiences they need to secure their careers in these very difficult times. We are delighted to consolidate our relationship with Rye Arts Festival with a series of concerts featuring CMF artists – we know they will give moving and entertaining performances.”
