To celebrate the launch of the Rye Society of Artists’ (RSA) new website, and in advance of the RSA’s 70th anniversary summer show in 2021, Rye News continues to profile one of their artists each week – including links to their website and social media accounts so you can keep up-to-date on their activities.
This week, the artist in focus is Celia Allen
Celia Allen’s sculptures capture the essence and spirit of animals. She works from animals seen in the countryside around her home and is also particularly inspired by the plight of endangered species such as the rhinoceros and the polar bear.
The work is slab built with modelled additions and firing techniques used are Raku with post firing reduction and oxidized stoneware.
You can also find more of Celia’s work on Instagram @allen_celia and RSA website.
