Ashford Visual Artists (AVA) had an exhibition over Easter, April 7 and 8 at the Rye Creative Centre, New Road. The exhibition had a variety of art, photography, stoneware and a mixed media interactive artist showing the visitors how he worked. The opening was a good opportunity to talk to the artists and how they conceived their work. Visitors were treated to a glass of bubbly by friendly members of the group.
Ashford borough area assists visual artists in their early endeavour to develop as professionals, as well as supporting peer to peer meetings which helps with formulating goals. They also promote AVA, its members’ art, to business and public bodies and organise exhibitions and events. As part of AVA, members hold workshops, run art projects with communities and within schools deliver talks, open their studios to the public and sell art work in exhibitions.
