The Rye Society of Artists (RSA) has proudly launched a new website which showcases the work of their 43 members which is full of many fabulous delights.
Denise Franklin, chair of the RSA, says “my first grim task as newly elected chair in April was to cancel our 2020 exhibition. However, the creative and positive consequence of the Covid restriction has been the development of this new website.”
They have refreshed the historical archive and displayed all the posters for the last decades of exhibitions. There is a page of films about members called ‘In Conversation with…’ which Denise says feels so right in this time of lockdown. Among other features, all members now have a dedicated artist’s page with direct and social media contact links and the visual archive and contextual history of the society have been refreshed.
Denise says “The RSA Summer Show 2019 was a runaway success; from the joyful, heady, baking hot, private view to the exhausting last day of collection. We experienced record-breaking sales and loyal positive feedback from all” and she hopes to be able to see everyone again at their 70th Anniversary exhibition next year – back in the Dance Hall behind Rye Community Centre in Conduit Hill – in the new normal.
Big thanks have gone to their secretary, Helen Redmond, a practising artist, teacher and foster carer who has worked very hard behind the scenes to make this happen. Rye News has selected a few images in the gallery below to give you a taste of of the fabulous art you’ll find on their new site.
