The Red Door Gallery on Cinque Ports Street has been turned into a pop-up shop for the two weeks of the festival. Maggie Brand and Clare Summons met at Uckfield College and studied together. The shop is open during the day, showcasing their different skills and products but for two nights they set up crafting sessions with six students.

Last Thursday, September 16, Maggie taught her group sublimation printing, which is a printing process for transferring motifs to a variety of materials, for example t-shirts or ceramic mugs, using a carrier material. For this purpose, special sublimation printers and sublimation inks are used. Maggie was demonstrating this method for use on material.

On Wednesday, September 22 Clare taught her group the art of fused glass. Clare spent the first part of the session explained the health and safety aspects of the craft as it can be very dangerous if care is not taken. Clare is passionate about glass and this shows in her beautiful work hanging on the walls and adorning the shelves. It is vibrant and energetic and she has travelled to America to meet people who sell their work ranging from $15,000 to $20,000.

Both groups had a wonderful time and learnt new skills.
