The Hill Quartet

Not only did I enjoy the vibrancy of this concert on Tuesday evening I also sat listening to this group in rehearsal. The thing that struck me most vividly was their care of each other. They were in tune, in harmony on and off stage. This is why their music was so powerful and energetic whilst being poignant and emotional.

The first piece, Centator and Amanda, by Roxanna Panufnik was commissioned for the 40th anniversary of the arts festival. Roxanna attended and spoke briefly before the concert. Patrick Bolton joined the quartet playing the bassoon hauntingly.

The Hill Quartet is an innovative, multi-national chamber ensemble based in London. They are currently the Royal Academy of Music chamber fellows.
