A new Christmas Open House event, the Clay Culture Trail, will be featuring 13 ceramicists from across East Sussex. It will be in four venues in Hastings for one week-end only, December 8 and 9 between 10:30am and 4:30pm.
This outing can be combined with a visit to the recently opened Common Clay, an open access studio on 2 Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings, providing studio space, work shops and kiln hire. It is also holding open days over the same week-end. If interested please email carla@carlawright.co.uk.
The participants of the Clay Culture Trail are:
Venue 1, Jane Sarre and Yvette Glaze, 20 Clifton Road, Hastings, (07740 199415).
Venue 2, Annabel Faradale, Julia Hilton and Judith Rowe at Ore Place Farm House, The Ridge (07714 443221), a beautiful place.
Venue 3, Stephen Atkinson- Jones, Carole A. Sheldrake, Lisa Katzenstein, Kate Schuricht, Martin Pearce at 1 Pilgrims Way Hastings (07805 959109)
Venue 4, Wendy Lovehinds, Benjamin Beckett, Licy Clayden at 144 Stonefield Road, Hastings (07990 685 874).
This is a chance to buy work from both local ceramicists and others rarely seen in Hastings such as Katy Shuricht’s silky raku vessels and Stephen Atkinson-Jones’ spectacular lusterware bowls. With three venues just off the Ridge and one behind Queen’s Road, Hastings, it will make a very pleasant winter week-end treat.
