James-Lee Duffy, the disruptive and provocative artist, has been announced as the Artist-in-Residence at Rye’s influential Ashbees 100 gallery at 100, High Street. His upcoming exhibition, titled “Saturday Morning,” aims to evoke nostalgic 1980s childhood memories through vivid colours and re-imagined cartoon figures. Duffy’s fragmented recollections serve as inspiration for his whimsical and distorted artworks.
Embracing personal exploration, his unconventional technique involves deliberate markings and rapid paint spattering, resulting in humorous and thought-provoking imagery. The “Fragmented Memories” exhibition is now open at Ashbees 100, showcasing Duffy’s captivating mixed-media works and prints in various sizes, ranging from A4 to 1219 x 1524mm.
