Rye International Jazz & Blues Festival has just confirmed a superb line-up for the May series of concerts at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. This year they will present a three day festival in Bexhill starting with award winning British singer songwriter, Rumer performing on Thursday, May 7. The following evening Friday, May 8 sees the welcome return of legendary Latin guitarist, José Feliciano followed on Saturday night, May 9 by another legend, Booker T. Jones.
Rumer will be performing songs from her new album, Nashville Tears, with her band of exceptionally talented musicians as well as performing songs from her impressive back catalogue. The concert is kindly sponsored by Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors.
Nine-time Grammy award winning artist, José Feliciano takes centre stage as he performs all his classic hits and songs from his new album Behind the Guitar. José is also the very deserving recipient of lifetime achievement honour and the title track on his new album sums up the continuously unfolding career of this remarkable and unique figure in American musical culture of the last fifty years. Booker T Jones, the Hammond giant completes the trio of exceptional artists in an emotional musical journey and will be performing songs which made up the fabric of his musical identity. Booker T & the MG staples like Green Onions are woven into defining career moments from his journey after Stax records, when he produced and recorded with artists including Bill Withers, Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana.
Doors open at 7pm for all three concerts with performances scheduled to start at 8pm.
