20 year old Tommy who lives in Peasmarsh, got the thumbs up from all four judges on Saturday’s X Factor TV programme, and is now through to the next round. Kitchen porter Tommy, who describes himself as a “Kitchen Prince”, performed his own song “Kingpin” and had the audience at Wembley, where the show was filmed, screaming for more. The judges were won over by Tommy’s performance of his self-penned song as well as his winning personality and confident delivery. Judge Ayda Field described Tommy as “the prince of Wembley” and Ayda’s husband Robbie Williams stated that “a star is born”. Singer Louis Tomlinson “absolutely loved” Tommy’s performance and even Simon Cowell, not known for his appreciation of singing guitarists, said he was very glad Tommy was on the programme.

Tommy will be familiar to many locals as he has performed at several pubs and music venues in the vicinity, as well as at charity gigs. The song “Kingpin” is a snapshot of his life and how he hopes to make his family proud, and they watched from the wings beaming with joy at Tommy’s performance.

The next step for Tommy will see him at the X Factor’s Boot Camp where he will get training and advice before appearing before the judges on a future programme. The X Factor is on ITV at 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Rye News wishes Tommy every success in his quest for stardom.
