The worldwide phenomenon Downton Abbey becomes a grand motion picture event as the beloved Crawleys and their intrepid staff prepare for the most important moment of their lives. A royal visit from the King and Queen of England will unleash scandal, romance and intrigue that will leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance. Written by series creator Julian Fellowes it stars the original cast including Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley, Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith Crawley, Joanne Froggatt as Anna Bates, Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, Maggie Smith as Violet Crawley and Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley. Also starring are Brendan Coyle, Matthew Goode, Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Philips and Stephen Campbell Moore.

Ad Astra (12A) 123 mins
A paranoid thriller in space that follows Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) on a mission across an unforgiving solar system to uncover the truth about his missing father and his doomed expedition that now, 30 years later, threatens the universe. Directed by James Gray and also starring Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (18) 161 mins
Quentin Tarantino’s ninth feature film is a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton, former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth. Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognise any more. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbour, Sharon Tate. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, Al Pacino and Kurt Russell.

Mrs Lowry & Son (PG) 91 mins
Beloved British artist L.S. Lowry lived all his life with his overbearing mother Elizabeth. Bedridden and bitter, Elizabeth actively tried to dissuade her bachelor son from pursuing his artistic ambitions, while never failing to voice her opinion at what a disappointment he was to her. Starring Timothy Spall and Vanessa Redgrave.

The flightless angry birds and the scheming green piggies take their beef to the next level. When a new threat emerges that puts both Bird and Pig Island in danger, Red, Chuck, Bomb and Mighty Eagle team up with pigs Leonard, his assistant Courtney and techpig Garry to forge an unsteady truce and form an unlikely superteam to save their homes.
