There is a monthly Rye Dance which takes place on the last Friday of each month. It’s a conscious dance which is unique in that it has no steps to learn, no prior experience is needed. It’s all about freeing yourself in movement and allowing whatever needs expression to come into the dance. It’s a great chance to blow away the cobwebs and to dance like no one is watching. It’s also an opportunity to break out of your cultural cages.
Conscious dance has many benefits. It is a chance to let go and allow deep internal learning. It is a unique pathway for mediation and connects you to the present moment. It helps release tensions of everyday life and it is an opportunity to know yourself better.
Many people have learned a certain way of moving that feels safe but can also restrain and contain us. Rye Dance Community, which organises this event, is also building up a really supportive community of dancers in Rye giving the town an alternative scene that has been a bit dormant after Covid.
It takes place at the Creative Centre in an amazing space with plenty of room to move freely. Here is the link to book – https://bookwhen.com/seraphinamaguire/e/ev-s2xf-20220624193000
