Matt Hardman art on show

Contemporary, gothic impressionist Matt Hardman prefaces his exhibition, ‘Tales from the Afterlife’ now showing at Rye Art Gallery until November 11, with the words: “‘I have always thought that my art speaks for itself, that is the language.”

Matt Hardman explores the inner recesses of his brain and delivers some original and often surprising results. The coast and countryside of both Sussex and Cornwall loom large in the background while dreamlike figures, emoting perhaps, isolation and ridicule, hover.
With this series of works the viewer is invited to consider their own impressions.
The masterful mark-making, skilful rendering and labour-intensive methods employed in the work contribute to an arresting and important show.

Matt has gathered many awards and contributed to group and one-man shows.
His work is held in national and private collections around the country and abroad.
