I thought I would introduce a local art group called The Marsh Art Collective. We are a group of artists that came together through friendship while working in education, locally.
After most of us retired, we found we all had an arty hobby lurking in the background and decided to get together to have little exhibitions and sales. Initially, this was for fun and gave us an excuse to meet up regularly to share ideas, but we noticed that our well-being and health was also benefiting from being creative. We range from living in Rye, Tenterden, Ebony and New Romney, hence our name.
Mostly we pootle in our little studios or front rooms and our main inspiration is the countryside and coastlines where we live, showcasing the beauty and wonder in our natural world. You can find this in our range of work which includes photography, silver jewellery, ceramics, hand-crafted glass, paintings, collagraphs, and we also have a range of cards.
We have little exhibitions at Silcocks farm shop and cafe in St Michaels in Tenterden (TN31 6TL), where we use their upstairs barn to display our work.
Our next exhibition is from Tuesday to Saturday November 26-30 2024, 10am-4pm daily, with a special late night evening on Friday, November 29 until 8pm, where Silcocks will be fully open with their shop, butchers and cafe. There will be refreshments and fun-filled activities, live music, fresh Christmas wreaths for sale and much more to see.
You would receive a warm welcome from the Marsh Art Collective and you can find us upstairs in the barn. Looking forward to meeting old and new friends.
