New panto from Rye Players

Playden resident and Rye Players stalwart Helen Gray has chosen a traditional panto with a twist this year. Red Ryeding Hood is an original script by award-winning writer, Paul Johnson, whose work has provided hit upon hit for Wandsworth-based New Stagers. Paul generously gave the script to Rye Players, knowing that some tinkering would take place to include some local references. The Dame, for example, goes missing on a pub crawl starting at the Waterworks and ending ignominiously at The Crown!

Under Helen’s direction, a cast and crew of two dozen people have created a very funny and hugely entertaining show suitable for a family audience and with enough nuance for the grownups too. Red Ryeding Hood represents a huge community effort and the group is hoping to play to full houses on January 24 at 7:30pm and January 25 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at £8 from Adams or Rye Shoes or on the door, if available.
