A noisy and enthusiastic crowd took over the Printworks in Hastings to see the new show from Rye’s leading lady, Timberlina. The intimate venue was packed, with standing room only at the back. Rye was well represented, by a community bus-load as well as a number of others who had made it under their own steam.
Timberlina’s new show “FFS” focuses on the big environmental issues of the day. Alter ego Tim Redfern moved to Rye some years ago in search of a simpler life. He wanted to forage, to freecycle and to grow his own food. He was delighted when he applied for and was allocated an allotment. Several people in the audience also had allotments and they compared stories of this year’s bounteous harvests.
The show consisted of a number of new songs, about subjects as diverse as fatburgs, plastic packaging, cruising and stalking. The audience refused to accept that the evening was at an end when the set finished and Timberlina was forced back on stage after a break for refreshment with rapturous applause, for a number of encores.
