A little bit of latter-day history was made on Tuesday when some of the professional panto cast from Goldilocks and the 3 Bears arrived at Rye Heritage Centre. Taking time out from their hectic schedule of rehearsals and public engagements, Goldilocks (Charlotte Granville) Silly Billy (Peter Lambert) and Dame Dolly (Julius Brady) met up with heritage centre manager Simon Parsons and his team of volunteers as they posed for photographs.

The visit was planned by That’s Entertainment and the cast are appearing over the Christmas period (December 23-29) at the new Rye Theatre, Rye College, The Grove, TN31 7NQ for what promises to be “a thrilling panto for all the family featuring exciting circus and magic”.

Rye Heritage Centre has never had the pleasure of a panto cast to view its fabulous displays and the recently renovated full scale model of Rye with its spectacular sound and light show.

The cast couldn’t contain their excitement and once inside, Dame Dolly decided to ‘spend a penny’ in the amusement arcade before posing with Goldilocks and Silly Billy as they sailed away in the Captain Pugwash exhibit, then it was straight upstairs for another photo opportunity in the second world war era front room display.

Finally, they got the chance to watch and listen to the sound and light show in the main auditorium, an amazing throwback to days gone by, brought right up to date with a spectacular lighting display and the unique town model which has been fully restored for many generations to enjoy.

The Heritage Centre will be closing temporarily from this weekend while exciting new displays are installed, opening again on February 10 but until then, don’t miss the opportunity to see Goldilocks, Silly Billy and Dame Dolly, live this Christmas with performances on Saturday December 23, (1pm and 4:30pm) Sunday December 24 (1pm), Wednesday December 27 1pm and 4:30pm, Thursday December 28, 1pm and 4:30pm and finally Friday December 29 1pm and 4:30pm.
