From August 27 – October 3, Rye Art Gallery (RAG) presents Edward Burra (a collaboration show) including works by Paul Nash, David Lock, James Dearlove, Gerry White, Geraldine Swayne and others. “B is for Burra…..by John Wiltshire” It is an exploration of RAG’s Edward Burra archives, including personal objects, toys, photographs and postcards, in galleries 4,5,6. Join historian Louise Simkiss and cultural historian Diarmuid Hester in conversation (Burra and Friends) with artist David Lock, David Surman and John Wiltshire, September 18, 5pm-7pm. The cost is £12, tickets available from RAG.
Then, from September 11 – October 10 another exciting exhibition, Gardens – Landscapes. It is Louis Turpin’s eagerly anticipated first solo event in two years coinciding with the opening of the Rye Art Festival. The theme for the show this year is all about process – colour and composition with structure, in gallery 1 and 3. On September 15, from 5pm-7pm Louis Turpin is in conversation with Dr Julian Day. Louis will be talking about his journey through life, his joy at expressing colour in his art and celebrating nature. Tickets are £12 and can be bought at RAG.
