The Rye Theatre is about to be relaunched and is working with leading family production company, That’s Entertainment Productions to bring what they say will be the most exciting local Christmas event this year, a Christmas circus pantomime!

Theatre manager, Sally Hill and her team have been hard at work all summer preparing for the re-opening of the newly named Rye Theatre. “We are so blessed at Rye College to have such a lovely theatre,” she explains. “We were devastated when we had to close the venue during Covid, but now we have great plans to restore it to a fully functioning touring venue, with visiting shows, and what better way to start than with a fantastic family pantomime.”

That’s Entertainment Productions have been creating family shows in theatres and on-board cruise ships for over 30 years, and local producer, Chris Gidney is thrilled to be involved in the relaunch of the Rye Theatre. “I live in Bexhill,” says Chris. “So it’s a real privilege to bring one of our best-loved pantomimes for the whole Rye community to enjoy.”

Although Goldilocks is based on a children’s story the subject became a popular pantomime over 100 years ago and was a big hit for all ages at the London Palladium recently. The Rye panto will also have great fun with speciality acts, magic, aerial acrobatics and feature the incredible circus talents of Britain’s Got Talent star Pete Lambert. “The lovely thing about panto is that it appeals to every age group,” says Chris. “And I love the fact that it’s something that the whole family can come along and enjoy together.”

Goldilocks and the Three Bears – A Circus Adventure! Runs twice daily at Rye Theatre, Rye College TN31 7NQ from December 23 – 29. Tickets are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/3bearsrye2023.
