Stranded in Rye

I dropped into Studio Stranded this week, where I met Joe Morgan and Will Brady who run an independent creative studio with a focus on film production, photography and graphic design for the arts and creative industries. It’s very easy to find, conveniently situated adjacent to Rye Heritage Centre.

The following has been adapted from text forwarded to me by Joe Morgan:

“Established by creative director Joe Morgan, with the expertise of multidisciplinary designer Will Brady, Studio Stranded has quickly built a reputation for highly creative, premium quality content.

We specialise in ‘multi-stranded’ campaigns for the entertainment and cultural industries – developing and producing engaging artist documentaries, EPKs (Electronic Press Kits), trailers, print, front end design and special projects for theatre, opera, music, film and visual arts marketing.

We work with big names in the arts and entertainment world, including Sky, the BBC, English National Opera and Royal Opera House – crewing up with some of the UK’s finest producers, cinematographers and editors.

This summer, Studio Stranded will present a new exhibition of Mick Williamson’s work, including large scale limited edition prints and copies of his latest book, From The Photo-Diaries of Mick Williamson.

There is something cinematic about the photos of Mick Williamson. Each frame is imbued with story. We are given clues to the where, the when, the who, the what, yet his images have a quality as ephemeral as memories past… fading at the edges, but loaded with contrast and definition in the parts that matter.”

“Since 1974, Mick has shot over 2 million photographs, with a seemingly casual ‘from the hip’ approach, capturing intuited moments as an extension of memory and perception, beyond the fussiness and ‘expectations of professionalism’.”

There will be a book signing event and opening party on Saturday 6th July 2024 from 12.00-4.00.  For more information please contact info@studiostranded.uk

The work of Mick Williamson is on display in the Studio Stranded window gallery, Strand Quay, Rye from July 6 – September 8.

  1. I was disappointed that you have not highlighted the plight of Rye Bowling green and Cricket pitch maintenance after this year , we keep on about people’s fitness and mental awareness then Rother decide to withdraw their services on these two very important services to the elderly and the youngsters.
What’s wrong with Rother District Councillors do you not understand are you totally disconnected from life outside your four walls , is £12000 alone to much to keep the bowls green maintained and a similar amount for the cricket pitch maybe slightly higher .
