To celebrate the launch of the Rye Society of Artists’ (RSA) new website, Rye News continues to profile one of their artists each week – including links to their website and social media accounts so you can keep up-to-date on their activities.
You can view some of the RSA member’s work at their Spring Exhibition, entitled ‘There will be Growth in Spring’, at Rye Art Gallery until May 14. In addition, the RSA will be hosting their 70th Anniversary Summer Show later in the year.
This week, the artist in focus is Katherine Reekie
Originally from London Katherine studied fine art at Camberwell School of Art.
She now lives and works in Hastings, a town rich in contrasts and eccentricities and the inspiration for much of her work.
Her imagery, which is often described as accessible but slightly unnerving, is the product of an excellent grounding in traditional figurative art practice, and an interest in the surreal.
You can see more of Katherine’s work on her website, www.katherinereekie.co.uk, her Instagram @katherinereekieartist, her Facebook @katherine.reekie and the RSA website
