On Monday March 6, the residents at Peasmarsh Place were treated to some beautiful singing by The Music Well’s Children’s Singing Club. The children arrived eagerly just before 4:00pm, and sang a range of delightful songs for an hour. Some children sang solos, which were greatly enjoyed. The songs included Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, I am Sailing, Thank you for the Music, Down in the Jungle, The Sea Anemome, You Raise Me Up, and the most beautiful newly composed Music Well Anthem called Singing. The afternoon was full of happy music with some residents enjoyed singing along with the children. Music and singing are such a tonic for all ages. We all had a fun time!

The Music Well Anthem called Singing has been composed by Nick Ingman for the children and adult singing groups to learn, to celebrate the wonderful work of The Music Well. Nick is a local retired composer and musician; he is arranging for his beautiful song to be recorded by the children and the adults in a recording studio in St. Leonards in April – with a brass band and other musicians performing the backing music. It’s a very exciting project indeed, both for The Music Well and for Rye, which is where The Music Well is based. We will let you know when this will be available to buy as a CD and it will also be on You tube.

The children’s singing club meets every Monday at the Rye Creative Centre 4:00pm to 5:00pm, and children of all ages from 4 years old to teenagers, are warmly welcome to come along and join us. It is FREE, it is FUN and we are very FRIENDLY! Currently, this singing club is being fully funded by The Fairlight Arts Trust enabling it to be fully inclusive and FREE.
