Upcoming events at the Rye Bookshop will include new book-signings, all by local authors:
On Saturday August 4 from 12pm, Margery McGinn will have copies of A Saint for the Summer, her new novel set in Greece. Scottish by birth, Australian by upbringing, and now living in East Sussex, she has had a lifelong passion for Greece. Her four years of travel in the Peloponnese has been the inspiration for her writing.
The following Saturday August 11 (12-3pm), Tom Evans will be signing copies of his non-fiction book With SOE in Greece, about the wartime experiences of his father Captain Pat Evans who was parachuted into German-occupied Northern Greece in September 1943. His brief was to gather military intelligence and support the Greek resistance movement in carrying out sabotage operations, in a theatre of conflict, split by political factions on the edge of civil war.
Then on Saturday August 25, from 2-5pm Tina Brown will be in store with her new book Gin: An illustrated History, a  book that tells the story of this favoured beverage spanning hundreds of years. Tina Brown has written another book entitled Secret Hastings and St Leonards, in which she explores lesser known episodes and corners of the towns’ history.
