On Wednesday, March 12 Rye College GCSE dance and drama students went up to London’s West End to see the famous Matilda the Musical. Although the trip was for the drama coursework, some of year nines got to come along too and just enjoy the show. The
song When I grow up is almost too fitting!
With fabulous numbers such as Naughty and Revolting Children, the musical went down almost as well as Bruce Bogtrotter’s cake!
The musical itself is based on the Roald Dahl classic Matilda and is a huge success, despite some changes to the original plot
The coach ride was over two hours, but from the windows you could see the sights of London like the Shard, the Walkie Talkie building and the Tower of London, before arriving at Covent Garden to eat lunch.
In the afternoon, everyone travelled to the theatre to see the incredible musical. Many people bought programmes as memorabilia of the fantastic performance and sang along to the finale of Revolting Children, a fitting end to an amazing day!
The Press Club is a joint project between Rye News and Rye College which sees students reporting on life at school and beyond.
