Winchelsea Arts is proud to host several special concerts this season at St Thomas’ Church, Winchelsea. Space is normally limited for these events so it is advisable to book early.

On Saturday, November 10 at 7:30pm Chiyan Wong will perform on the piano. He is a young UK-based pianist and has been astonishing audiences with the sincerity and sheer authority of his playing.

He made his debut with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra playing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto 2 in April last year, followed last autumn by playing Liszt and Beethoven with the Hong Kong Philarmonic Orchestra.

Classical pianist, Stephen Hough, describes him as “an exciting, original and thoughtful pianist” and Kun-Woo Paik (the South Korean pianist) suggests that “Chiyan Wong has a sincerity as a person which he applies to his music-making and that is very rare these days”.

On Saturday, December 16 at 7pm there is another concert by L’Octuor de France. This internationally acclaimed chamber ensemble – close friends of the late local musician Tom Harris – were saddened, as were many others, when the world of classical music lost this very talented pianist and loved friend of Winchelsea Arts, who died, aged just 22, at the end of 2015.
