The Royal Opera House comes to Rye next month with an evening of music at the Creative Centre on Saturday November 30. Rye Lawn Tennis Club’s fifteenth annual concert will see some of the opera house’s most talented singers on stage in the Old Gym.
The concert will feature alumni from the Jette Parker Artists section of the Royal Opera House. Every year it trains and supports talented and aspiring singers from all over the world at the ROH in Covent Garden.
The evening has been put together by pianist and conductor Oliver Gooch and features Australian soprano Anita Watson, Scottish tenor Michael Gibson, Josef Jeongmeen Ahn a Korean Baritone, and Monika Evelin Liiv – the Estonian mezzo soprano making a return to Rye after singing at the Tennis Club’s Opera Evening several times, including the first in 2010.
Jonathan Jempon, Rye Tennis Club Chairman, says the Club’s opera evening continues to attract some of the most talented young singers from around the world. “They’re all trained by the Royal Ballet and Opera. As well as giving people who live locally access to such talented performers, we hope the event will encourage people to come and find out more about the Club and all our facilities.”
The concert will be held at 7pm on Saturday November 30 in the Old Gym at the Rye Creative Centre, New Road, Rye TN31 7LS. The price per ticket is £50 which includes programmes and drinks beforehand and in the interval.
