A group of 17 choral students of the YT93 Performing Arts Academy sang their hearts out at the Kino Cinema on Sunday July 3. A medley of numbers from pop music to musical theatre rang out to please the cinema goers, under the baton of Tony Pape, choirmaster, who lives in Rye. Academy principal Christina Yates said: “It was such a lovely opportunity for the children to perform two sets at the Kino. Neil Whittle and the staff made us all feel so welcome and between the performances many of the parents took in the sights and restaurants in Rye, making the most out of a family day out”.

The YT93 Performing Arts Academy has been helping children in Kent and East Sussex for nearly 25 years to develop their interest and talents in the performing arts. The academy, currently operating with bases at Cranbrook and West Malling, Kent, is potentially looking to spread its wings with a coastal base opening in September 2016 in Rye.

“YT93 would like to hear from any potential singers, dancers, actors and tutors in and around Rye who would be interested in a base starting in Rye itself” says Christina Yates.
