Cheryl Creaser

Party description: Labour Party

Cheryl lives with her partner Harry in Rye, where she is a Town Councillor and currently Vice Chair of the Council’s Planning Committee, as well as a member of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group (RNP), Human Resources and Heritage Centre Options Working Groups.

Cheryl says “I wish to continue to serve my community to the best of my ability and will use the opportunity to represent, promote and protect the interests of the residents of Rye and Winchelsea.”

Car Parking and Traffic management in Rye & Winchelsea needs an overhaul!

Both Rye & Winchelsea are Historic Towns, which are both blighted due to the unfortunate result of Tories’ cuts to our policing. Rye has a serious problem with irresponsible parking and Winchelsea with motorists using the Town as a shortcut on the A259. Whilst RDC proceeds with Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) we need to consider the wider community due to displacement and to work with the community for traffic calming in both Winchelsea and Rye.

The cuts of past 9 years have left the unacceptable situation in Rye where irresponsible car parking is not managed. Therefore, Labour supports the plans for Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) as a necessary step to combat this. However, there are many aspects to consider to ensure that the special character of Rye is not damaged. At the same time enabling residents and businesses locally to function. We must be mindful to ensure that the restrictions and parking cost within the Citadel area does not then cause displacement to other areas of the town. Therefore, a full review of both on street, and off-street parking is needed. Labour’s Rye Town Councillor Cheryl Creaser says “We are working towards the best solution possible for our communities.”

Promoted by Eileen Masters, on behalf of Cheryl Creaser both at Hastings & Rye Labour Party, 84 Bohemia Road, St Leonards on Sea, TN37 6RN.
