My family on both sides have been in the Rye and Hastings areas for hundreds of years and that was one of the reasons I initially first stood for council. I wanted to give something back to the area I was so fond of and to act as a custodian for future generations.

There are a number of projects I have been involved with such as Rye Town Councils first Discounted Rent house. This is a scheme I proposed and am keen on as I want the town to remain a rich and full place to live with a lively high street and a hub for fishing and farming. I want young families to be able to stay living and working in the town we all love so much.

I also had the pleasure to speak at a Rother District Council committee and explain the benefits of our excellent town steward scheme.

I had the great pleasure to be Mayor recently for two years and I opened up the mayor making event to all so that it became an inclusive event.

To sum up I have been a councillor for a longtime but there is still a little more I’d like to accomplish and in any event it’s good to have a couple of us oldies around so the new councillors can draw on our experience.
