Purple Lights up Winchelsea
Wednesday 24th October is World Polio Day, and to mark this event St. Thomas’ Church Winchelsea will be lit up up inĀ purple.
At 6.00 p.m the Rector Revd. Jonathan Meyer will flick the switch to illuminate the outside of the Church in purple (the colour of the dye used to mark the little finger of every immunised child)
The Church will stay lit until 10.30 p.m
For 30 years, Rotary, generously supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, have campaigned to rid the world of Polio cases. In 1988 there were over a third of a million cases worldwide. Last year the number was recorded at 22 cases.
All welcome.
