Rye Rhythms – Sunday Drum Circle
The emphasis in these sessions is community, so whatever your level, if you want to come together with a group for an hour and bang a drum in time, you are welcome. This practice, which has shown up in numerous cultures over decades, is a proven way to increase oxytocin (the wellbeing hormone), relieve stress, connect with others and feel good!
People of all ages are welcome (if you come with kids we encourage you to drum with them as this can be a lovely experience and means they have the pleasure of being absorbed into the larger energy of the group). Experienced as well as new drummers are welcome.
We provide hand drums, stick drums and a variety of percussion dependent on your needs. If you have your own drum, do bring it along 🙂
The session will be flavoured by world rhythms collected over 20 years from across the globe. Having studied and worked alongside master percussionists from many different countries, Jamie uses the simple rhythmic pulse to bring a group together and build the foundation upon which infinite musical variations can be explored.
