Decade of growth

Join us this Saturday June 29 2024, as we mark a decade of growth, community, and
sustainability at the Rye Community Food and Wildlife Garden at the end of Love Lane in Rye.

It’s been an incredible journey filled with gardening, learning and friendships. We’ve
collaborated with dozens of other organisations over the years, including 19 in just last year alone when we either participated in – or hosted -17 different events in 2023! Now, we’re excited to invite you, our valued community members, to celebrate this significant milestone with us.

Since the first spade broke turf on June 29 2014 by an enthusiastic group of nature lovers, the Garden continues to go from strength to strength and provide a valuable community green space for all to enjoy.

10 year of the community garden

The schedule of events includes a “Meet, Greet and Eat” session from 12-1 pm so please
bring and share your favourite food  /drink to share; from 1-2 pm you can listen to our
founders’ stories of how the garden went from concept to creation and meet our current committee members, and then you can partake in fun and games from 2-3 pm, all the while enjoying lovely, garden-themed tunes from our resident gardening guitarist!

Self-guided tours of the garden are available throughout the afternoon.

Admission: Free! Everyone is welcome.

Parking: Best to walk from home, if possible, or park at the Rye Leisure Centre and then
walk to the end of Love Lane. Limited on-site parking reserved for those with accessibility needs.

Bring: Your family and friends, sensible shoes, clothing for variable weather, food to
share, and your own picnic ware (although we will have some for those who forget or
don’t have any). Well-behaved dogs (and pet parents!) are also always welcome at the
garden!

Come prepared for an afternoon of fun, connection and community spirit.

Let’s celebrate the past, present and future of our beloved community garden.

Together, we’ve grown more than just plants; we’ve cultivated a thriving community.
