A changing climate is prompting Winchelsea Garden Society to re-think its schedule of shows. This year’s spring show was brought forward from mid-April to late March and the autumn show has become a summer show, moved forward to the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The decision was fully vindicated by the 220 splendid entries on display at Winchelsea New Hall on Saturday, August 26. Mayoress Sandra Merrifield presented cups to the overall winners in each category: Helen Macdonald, John Dunk, Jennifer Sutherland, Celia King, Cynthia Martin and Sally Rhodda.
Congratulations to the gardeners and growers and to Sally and the Winchelsea Garden Society team who made the event so happy and successful.
The Society is organising a visit to the RHS garden at Hyde Hall in Essex on Thursday, September 7 leaving Winchelsea at 9am and back by 6pm. The cost of travel and entry is £15. Contact Howard Norton – 01797 226524 howard@ryeview.net – if you are interested.
