24-hour self-service launderette

An innovative new plug-and-play laundry unit has been installed at Jempson’s. It does the laundry for you while you shop for your paper, bread and milk and tonight’s dinner.  You don’t have to worry about the time as you will receive a text five minutes before your wash is due to finish.

The service is completely cashless and includes ecological detergent and other options you might want for your washing.  Prices range from £5 for a 9kg wash, from £10 for 20kg and from £3 for drying.  Prices depend on options you can choose such as adding softener.

The service is available on a self-service basis 24 hours.  An engineer visits the site regularly and runs maintenance checks.  The system provides 24/7 customer support.

An app is apparently also due but at the time of writing doesn’t seem available just yet.

What’s not to like?  This is sure to be popular with visitors especially visiting yachtsmen. Good as well for locals.

  1. There is a long established laundrette in the Rope Walk which will be affected by this. The proprietor gives helpful and friendly service and I hope that this new venture at Jempsons does not adversely affect this much valued business.

  2. I agree Mags especially for those who don’t have washing machines and visitors who are staying in hotels B and B ‘s etc if for example been out to say Rye Reserve and children’s clothes are wet etc they could just put a quick load on! I very much support the laundrette in town but wouldn’t take my general washing there!

  3. Yes Peter interesting reading this post that it is open 24/7, and get your shopping done, whilst your washing spins away, but the shop doesn’t open on Sundays. So does the spins stop,or am I being hypocritical of this service.

  4. It would be great if Jempsons reduced the car park charge for anyone using the launderette, as they do for shopping in their supermarket, otherwise add another two pounds to the cost of doing the washing, which isn’t exactly cheap anyway!

  5. Really wasn’t impressed, washed a two part duvet, cost £13,took it home and washed the smaller part again in my washing machine and it’s come out twice as white.

  6. I can thoroughly recommend the laundrette in the Rope Walk – super helpful and friendly service, excellent results and cheap too!
