Accident at South Undercliff

A motorcyclist was hurt in a collision with a van on Saturday morning, July 8, near the bend on South Undercliff, by the turning into Rock Channel.

South East Coast Ambulance Service report that ambulance crews, including a critical care paramedic, attended the scene following reports of the collision at approximately 8.15am. The male motorcyclist, aged in his 50s, was assessed and treated for injuries, including leg injuries, before being taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

  1. Let us hope that he makes a good recovery, and that he is not among the small band of motorcyclists who seem intent on suicide when they get their bikes out (particularly, it seems, at weekends).

    This has raised my curiosity. “before being taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford” – I thought that the local hospital for Rye was the Conquest at Hastings. Has there been a change and how is the choice of hospital made by the Ambulance Service?
