On Saturday, January 14 the noise of the air ambulance deafened the residents of Rye Harbour as it landed in Pound Field, a recreation ground in the harbour. Izzy Bolton, RNLI crew member, drove to the field to make sure that the paramedics knew the fastest way to their casualty. She drove them to the caravan park and made sure they were in the right place.

Some people in the village said that their houses shook with the vibrations. Up close the size of the helicopter is breath-taking and the noise is thunderous.

A statement from KSS reads: “A helicopter from air ambulance charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) was dispatched to Rye on 14 January 2023. Our crew arrived on scene at 18:01 where they worked with SECAmb to help treat the patient. They then transported the patient to hospital by road with our crew accompanying them in the ambulance to continue delivering their care enroute.”
