The A259 near East Guldeford witnessed yet another accident on Wednesday afternoon around 4.45 when a Ford Transit van traveling West and a German lorry heading towards Dover, were in collision. The two occupants of the van were severely injured and after treatment by the doctor from the air ambulance (which had been called in), both were taken to William Harvey hospital. The 50 year-old driver was later taken to Kings College Hospital in London.
Both men had had to be cut out of their vehicle by East Sussex Fire and Rescue. The lorry driver was unhurt. The road was closed for seven hours following the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses and if anyone saw the accident they should contact the police either by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by phoning 101 and quoting ‘Operation Bartley’.
