A retirement living community in Rye is celebrating after winning a prestigious region-wide award.
Sanctuary Retirement Living’s St Bartholomew’s Court, on Kiln Drive, triumphed in the “Housing with Care” category at the South-East regional finals of the Great British Care Awards, which were held at the Hilton Hotel in Brighton.
Staff at St Bartholomew’s Court, which offers purpose-built apartments and communal facilities for residents over 60, were praised for “constantly striving to do the best for their clients to ensure they can maintain their independence”.
The team ensures each resident has an individual care plan which is developed as needs change, and organises a variety of services including an on-site health hub and regular visits from community representatives including a vicar, exercise instructor and local schoolchildren.
Residents also enjoy spending time with resident therapy dog, Barty, while a loneliness champion has been assigned to visit people who do not regularly see friends and family, as part of Sanctuary Retirement Living’s “Your Home Your Life” approach.
Katalina Ross, Retirement Living Manager at St Bartholomew’s Court, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won this award, which is testament to the fantastic team we have here and all their hard work and dedication.
“We’re committed to providing a person-centred service where our residents can remain independent and live healthy and fulfilling lives in their own homes, and it’s wonderful to have those efforts recognised in this way.”
St Bartholomew’s Court will now go forward to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards, which will take place next year.
Sara Keetley, Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Operations Director, commented: “Winning this award is a fantastic achievement for the team at St Bartholomew’s Court and one that is richly deserved and which they should be extremely proud of.”
