Body found in Peasmarsh

A 59 year old man has been charged with murder after a man’s body was discovered in Peasmarsh on Wednesday October 23. It follows the search for Wayne Woodgate from Tunbridge Wells which began last week.

Police are appealing for help from motorists who may have travelled on the A268 between Peasmarsh and Four Oaks.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber from Kent Police said: ‘We are specifically requesting any dashcam footage for journeys made between 5.15pm and 5.45pm on Thursday October 17, and between 8.15am and 8.45am on Sunday October 20.”

Enquires to find 54-year-old Wayne Woodgate began after he was reported missing on Thursday October 17. He was last seen entering a van in Goods Station Road in Tunbridge Wells.

The investigation into his disappearance led officers to Peasmarsh on Wednesday where a body, since identified as Mr Woodgate, was located.

Stephen Castle, 59, of Hastings Road, Matfield was arrested on the previous day. On Thursday evening he was charged with murder and remanded in custody.

He was due to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday October 25 .
